What You Can Expect from the Galaxie Legal Videographer

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM YOUR GALAXIE LEGAL VIDEOGRAPHER:

WE WILL CAPTURE QUALITY AUDIO

     To obtain the best audio quality, your videographer will use highly accurate microphones to record the proceeding.

     Specifically, our video cameras are the most compact professional Sony combo-HD/SD camcorders available that accept the balanced XLR inputs of our high-fidelity studio & field production microphones.

     Typically, the deponent, the deposing attorney, and the opposing attorney will have individual microphones -- either high-quality directional desk-mics or attached lavalieres.

     A fourth table-top microphone is also used -- mainly to capture the voice of the Stenographic Court Reporter as she administers the oath and the voice of the Videographer when he performs his read-ons and closings. 

     During the proceeding, the videographer will continually monitor the audio feed and will adjust the gains as needed to capture clear and balanced audio levels.

 

WE WILL ESTABLISH A PROPER SETTING FOR TAPING

     The videographer will establish a setting that will (a) keep the focus on the deponent and (b) minimize visual distractions. 

     For example, if filming a witness in a glass-enclosed conference room, would you want to see numerous people walking behind the witness as they are testifying?  Probably not. 

     If a proper, dedicated deposition chamber is unavailable, our videographer will either suggest the best spot for shooting or he will utilize a back-drop and lighting kit in order to establish a quality background. 

     In fact, we always bring a low-power soft flood light with us for fill-lighting -- since most room-lights, which are usually directly overhead, create unattractive shadows on  deponents' faces.

 

WE WILL BE MINIMALLY INTRUSIVE

     We understand that this is a legal proceeding, and we will generally try to blend into the background as much as possible.

     As we said before about our equipment, we use the most compact professional-series Sony High-Definition  video cameras available.  Thus, the deponent will no longer be intimidated by a one-eyed giant staring at him.

WE WILL CAPTURE A QUALITY PICTURE
--  WE UNDERSTAND THE TECHNOLOGY

     Our legal videographers understand the latest technologies and their proper usage.  We know what equipment is truly useful.  But, likewise, we also know which of the current technologies (which may be okay for independent filmmaking or newsgathering) may not be appropriate for legal videography. *

     Our use of high-quality camcorders, in skilled hands, will ensure a clear, sharp, color-balanced picture that is pleasing to the eye and not distracting to the judge & jury.

     In addition, for depositions and most other legal video situations, our cameras internally burn the date and time -- with visible seconds -- directly into the image during recording.  This is not something we have to add later in post.

     At this point in 21st Century technology, we no longer need to impress you with the size of our, uhmm, cameras.  But we certainly will impress you with the quality of our product.
