In addition to this certification, Mr. Gregory is also commissioned as a California Notary Public – which further qualifies him to video-record Expert Testimony.
”Legal Videography” is the general heading given to the specialized video field involved with the timely production of video evidence – evidence that is ultimately intended for presentation to (a) the opposing parties involved in a litigation or (b) the “triers of fact” if the case goes to trail.
The most controlled area of Legal Videography is the video recording of testimony under oath. There are very specific Federal, State, and District Court rules that must be maintained if the video is to be admitted during a trail – whether the case is being tried before a judge or a judge and jury.
THE AMERICAN GUILD OF COURT VIDEOGRAPHERS was established in 1995 to provide the legal profession with qualified and "certified" legal video professionals – individual craftsmen who can be utilized in producing video evidence from the very conception of a lawsuit to the completion of the case.
The candidates for A.G.C.V. membership must be professionally recognized videographers and must first demonstrate their skills and thorough knowledge in the operation of their equipment. They are then put through an extensive legal video training program. In fact, only the A.G.C.V.’s program covers ALL of the types of video evidence that can be presented in court.
As part of their training, the legal videographers certified by the A.G.C.V. have been well-versed in the applicable "Federal Rules of Civil Procedure" and "Federal Rules of Evidence" – that is, they have a clear understanding of the regulations governing the production of video-recorded depositions and documentaries that should be admissible in court. Therefore, the video documents produced by a Board-Certified CCVS would generally not be impeachable.
